| One of two 18 hole
courses at Addington Court, quite short but interesting. |
|
The Falconwood course starts with a hard walk up a steep hill,
give yourself a minute before teeing off.
The first hole is 328 yard par 4, a little up hill to start then
steeply down hill and running right to left, so you need to start
it out right. The green is quite flat and narrow with high ground
right and falling off to the left where are two green side bunkers.
Hole two is a 347 yard par 4, flat and straight but it's best to
keep right as the rough left can be quite tough. The green is similar
to the first, fairly narrow and deep with high ground right and
falling off left to a bunker.
The third is a short par 4 at 262 yards, a dog leg right around
a line of large trees, then uphill to a two-tier green protected
at the front by a wide bunker.
Hole 5 is another short par 4 at 268 yards. The green is set behind
large bunkers left and right, but this a real birdy chance.
Six is a decent par 3, 167 yards. The green is protected by a bunker
either side and mounds to the side and back.
The seventh is S.I.1, a 431 yard par 4. The fairway is quite open
but the rough left is punishing, and there is stand of trees right
obscuring the green if you go into the right rough. The greeen is
again well protected by bunkers and raised ground to the sides.
You tee off blind on hole 8, a 407 yard par 4, the fairway doglegs
right slighly downhill and sloping right to left. It looks like
you can hit across the trees on the right, but that will leave you
in rough and give you no run on, so keep left. There is a high lipped
bunker right and the ground falls away left and back.
Ten is the only par 5 at 507 yards. It's mostly downhill and sloping
right to left, with a solid line of trees along the right, and rough
ground left, so you need a well placed tee shot.
The eleventh is a good par 3, 162 yards up hill, so you can't see
the putting surface from the tee. There is a deceptive ridge then
low ground in front of the green, the ground falls away left to
heavy rough and bushes to the right.
Hole twelve is a slight dogleg left to right, with a right to left
slope so you need to aim it left from the tee to stay on the fairway.
There is a bunker right and a fair bit of slope on the green.
The 322 yard par 4 thirteenth is uphill, you can't see the green
from the tee, aim for the block of flats in the distance. The green
has raised ground left.
Sixteen looks an easy par 3, 145 yard, slightly downhill, there
is a bunker and a raised ridge left and falling ground right, with
rough and trees behind.
The eighteenth is a good finishing par 4, only 334 yards, but with
a lot of shape. Uphill from the tee and a bit left to right, there
is a line of trees jutting in from the right and the fairway is
sloping a little left to right. The green is fairly narrow and deep,
a bit sunken, with really high ground to the left and falling away
sharply to the right.
This is the sister to The Championship Course across the road, there
is also a nine hole course, a practice green for chipping and putting
and a two-tier fully covered driving range (the most uphill range
Ii've ever seen), and a small proshop.
Bar, restuarant and a larger pro shop are across the road. |
