| A really challenging
18 hole pay and play parkland course. |
|
This course is a sister course to the Kingswood Golf & Country Club which you can find in the course directory on the left.
You start with a demanding par 5, a straight drive is essential down this narrow tree-lined fairway,
with a well-placed second needed for a clean shot across water and
sand to the green.
This sets the tone, with tight tree-lined fairways for the first six
holes before the course opens out a little, with the 7th being a relatively
easy par 4 dogleg left. A long iron and wedge, but driving staight
for the green is not too dangerous.
Hole 11 is a long par 5 at 600 yards, there is a large pond halfway
down on the right, a stream a few yards further on, and more water
140 yards from the green.
On the 13th, another par 5, you face the same pond, forcing a drive
or lay-up decision from the tee.
There is water on every hole from the 13th onward, with 16 being a
particularly difficult par 4.
You will always remember the last two holes here.
The 17th (illustrated above) is a special hole, have a look from the
back of the white tee position.
On the 18th what seems like the perfect tee shot leaves you with the
trunk of a large almost dead tree in your way, shorter is OK but longer
is best. Your second shot is over water to a green almost completely
surrounded by water, played to the applause or boo's of the crowded
restuarant/bar.
A really interesting course with good practice facilities, pro shop
and restaurant/bar, where you get the chance to see others facing
the challenge of the last hole. |
